Taking "A Modest Proposal" Literally

|
Note to bioethicists: Jonathan Swift's "Modest Proposal" is a work of irony. You're not really supposed to kill the babies.

NIH and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital tested AIDS drugs on black and hispanic orphans. I guess they figured, who needs embryos? And yet whenever any question comes up, we're supposed to check our consciences at the door and rely on the judgments of ethicists who will adhere to the "highest standards."

"Ethicist" is like code for "rubber stamp of approval." Curtsy to Mere Comments.
