Protesting Too Much

So, in the past few days, Christopher Hitchens has written one of his predictable anti-Catholic polemics (actually, anti-Catholic is a misnomer, since he's anti-religion, period): this time questioning Judge Roberts' fitness to be on SCOTUS if he's just going to add to the burgeoning Papist wing of the Court. Snooze.
Then, even more predictably, the Catholic blogosphere has erupted into spluttering defenses. (If you must, go to NRO's The Corner --link at right--and scroll down to see the debate between Ramesh Ponnuru, Peter Robinson and Hitch). Puhleeze. Is there anything in the world more obvious than that Hitch protests too much and will be one of us eventually?
