On the radio yesterday, folks were saying that the Dems aren't going to fight the Roberts nomination very hard. I don't like to hear that. It's important not to overthink things, but it would be wise for the Dems not to fight, and since lately the Dems seem to lack all political wisdom, it makes me wonder. Why do they not want to fight him? Because they don't see him as a threat or because they've got something secret in the wings? Remember how Clarence Thomas was supposed to sail through and in fact was sailing through? Only at the last minute did they cook up Anita Hill.
