"Shoot Me Dead, But I Will Not Renounce The Pope"

Bishop Peter Chang to Chinese police in 1955. For which he spent 24 years in slave labor. He passed away Oct. 12. Recent news from China has been depressing. After Vatican efforts to "reach out" to the Chinese and an apparent warming of relations (you know, maybe 1 degree), the Chinese refused to allow Chinese bishops (not even Patriotic Association ones) to attend the Synod on the Eucharist and have been cracking down on the Underground Church in recent weeks. At least they are going to allow an official funeral. RIP.
