Can Anything Good Come Out Of Minnesota Public Radio?

Yes, in the case of Leif Enger's Peace Like A River. I may be the last person in the States to be aware of this book since its cover tells me it is a "National Bestseller!" Which would ordinarily put me off it, but my mom recommended it, so I tucked it into my carry-on during my recent travels and consumed it on the flight home. It's about an asthmatic boy and his family's relationship with his outlaw older brother in 1960's South Dakota. I can't recall reading a contemporary novel that is so beautifully written. Often I stopped to re-read passages just to "hear" them again in my mind.
