March 10. Monday the weather blokes were threatening a snow day. Today it's 77 degrees and I feel tempted to plant tomatoes. Would it be nuts to plant today, I ask myself? Yes, it's too early, but it doesn't stop me from going out to look wistfully at the garden patch. Where I discover several varieties of lettuce coming up, with no help from me. Which only makes the longing for a luscious home-grown beauty that much stronger. There's nothing worse than being at the beginning of Lent & into the sixth month of cello tomatoes.
Ah well, at least the jonquils and crocus are up. Won't be long.
