I read it in WaPo, so it must be true! All roads lead to the Rome of American racism for WaPo, but what the startling stats actually point out is why the anti-capital punishment discussion of "human dignity" is absolutely insufficient. Our prisons are not run in accord with human dignity, and the effort to ban capital punishment without even thinking about what it means to be imprisoned for life is lame . . .an effort to make ourselves feel good without actually taking human dignity into account.
