Americans Opposed To Bush's Plan. The findings of the survey, conducted after Bush's primetime speech, represent an initial rebuke to the White House goal of generating additional public support for the mission in Iraq.
But then, scroll down a little and we find:
Bush fared better among the 42 percent of Americans who actually watched the speech (emphasis mine -ed). Among that group, 47 percent support sending more troops, while 51 percent oppose.
Ah. So opinion's about split among those who are paying attention. That's a bit different than the country being solidly against the President isn't it?
