In response to WaPo's story yesterday on the "lost tomb of Jesus" (good piece, by the way) a friend makes an interesting point:
Sure, this is all silly business and something of a blasphemy, along with so much other junk out there. But consider that if this were truly the anti-Christian/anti religious/totally secularized age many Catholics say we're in, why is there so much interest in this guy Jesus, in the Bible's claims about him, and the evidence for his life? In an entirely secularized age, no one would care one way or another, hence no headline stories, stunts, films, etc. I say this is evidence of real and widespread interest, and maybe yearning, for Christ in our world.
