We Needn't Kill The Babies, Therefore We Must

Adult stem cell therapies just keep racking up cures. In this case, diabetics injected with their own stem cells were freed from needing insulin injections. As usual, after reporting the success of an adult stem cell therapy, the reporter lambasts the Bush administration for its opposition to the use of embryonic stem cells, whose growth cannot currently be controlled, and therefore have never been used therapeutically ever:
But research using the most versatile kind of stem cells — those acquired from human embryos — is currently opposed by powerful critics, including President Bush.
Yeah. Damn him. Getting the sick cured without killing the innocent. Being proven right every passing month. What an anti-scientific cowboy moron.

UPDATE: anti-scientific cowboy moron has an excellent statement on stem cells today.

In other stem cell news:

  • Now they've found them in fat and they're being used to regrow breast tissue after mastectomy and stimulate bone growth after cancer or other illness. (We need "Ask me about my cellulite" buttons for Americans who travel among the aging elite of Europe.) Curtsy to Secondhand Smoke.
  • Who's anti-science now? Scientists can even have embryonic stem cells ethically, without loss of life, through cell re-programming, if the House will let them.
