Just In Time For Valentine's Day: You're Not Married!

|
Proving that Maryland is indeed for crabs, the MD Senate is taking up three bills tomorrow, two of which aim to end traditional marriage.
  • One of them, SB 169, The Marriage Protection Act, defines marriage as being between one man and one woman, would prevent further tampering with the definition, and will require ratification by referendum if it passes.
  • SB 290 will permit same-sex marriage, although it goes by the title "The Religious Freedom And Civil Marriage Protection Act"
  • SB 689 abolishes marriage as a civil right in Maryland and opens "domestic partnerships" to all comers.
You can write to your state senators via the MD Catholic Conference here. Although, yikes, they force you to write the longest letter imaginable.
