He's Got Our Attention

Tim Drake has a nice vignette about people in New York being excited about the Pope's visit.
the restaurant's host and server were both standing, heads raised, watching the television with rapt attention. While several screens were playing sporting highlights and recaps, it wasn't sports that the restaurant employees were watching intently. They were watching Pope Benedict XVI celebrating the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

When I stepped into the hotel lobby, a bag handler was helping a woman with her bag. He excitedly asked her, "Did you see the Pope?"

Just to underscore the point, Mr. W. reports that on his trip to the dry cleaners just now, he overheard another customer --a young black man loaded down with "bling"-- talking with the clerk, who appears to be Somalian, about the Pope. Everyone's interested.
