Bush, Maliki Agree on 'Time Horizon' for U.S. Troop Withdrawals. A friend sent me this with the comment:
Apr. 1, 1945 -- President Roosevelt today said that as the German Nazi regime's forces gradually surrendered the last of their territories and Adolf Hitler is rumored to have committed suicide, the US was working out plans to return some number of its armed forces to the U.S. The Washington Post attacked Roosevelt for changing his mind after years of insisting that all forces were needed in Germany, but Roosevelt denied that his change of strategy was a "concession" to his political opponents.
