I love the analogy in this piece between our new financial overlords and the Masters of the Dark Arts. Particularly since, if you follow the Potter lit, you know these teachers are generally incompetent. However, there's an aspect of the truly dark as opposed to merely full of folly in this piece...

All across the country, people struggle desperately to hang onto their jobs, their homes, their lives. Next Tuesday, having already decided to deprive Cystic Fibrosis patients of life-prolonging treatment units, the Government will announce new ways to help us "share the pain."

So now we know --besides embryos and the elderly-- the first class of folk deemed expendable under the system we're keen to import to our own shores this year.
