Told You They Were Sophomores!

VDH writes an essay and says many good things, as always. But we know the really important part is where he agrees with me. To wit, I keep providing evidence (here and here and here and here and here) that Obama's speeches seem to be written by sophomores. (In them, we're always "on a journey" and "there for" people and L-ing other countries LAS. "Stay as sweet as you are, India!")
...the studied accentuation and Rev. Wright inculcated cadences are shopworn, the allusions tired and transparently the work of twenty-something speechwriters who ran out of clichés around March [emphasis mine].
Of course, I meant high school sophomores, but I was not allowing for the decline of standards since I taught high school. So: VDH & RC2: BFFs!
