That improbable American Idol, Dick Cheney, was mobbed by little girls asking for autographs when he stopped by the American Girl doll store in Chicago last week. Why does this strike me as hilarious?

Cheney's daughter, Liz, a former State Department official, made a purchase, presumably for one of her three daughters. The Vice-President did not buy anything.
