Bad, Bad Children

|
Children "bad for planet." Having large families is an eco-crime. Just when we had reason to hope the Steynian demographic gloom for Europe might be averted, "Scientists" recommend cultural suicide. Turns out its not your carbon footprint, it's your actual footprint they object to.
John Guillebaud, co-chairman of OPT and emeritus professor of family planning at University College London, said...: “The greatest thing anyone in Britain could do to help the future of the planet would be to have one less child.”

Says Steyn himself:
In those terms, surely the greatest thing everyone in Britain could do to help the future of the planet would be to reduce his carbon footprint to zero by killing himself. The United Kingdom's present fertility rate is not three children or even two but 1.6 or 1.7, and the British will be extinct long before the polar bear. And when the self loathing westerners are gone how many Yemeni imams will want to man the late shift at the local Greenpeace office?
As we have previously observed, all global warming roads seem to lead to anti-person solutions. This might be the time to link Steve Hayward's excellent A Convenient Fiction slide show. Hayward, of Pacific Research Institute & AEI, believes in global warming and in man's contribution to it. But he's much more optimistic than the Warmenists. A pro-person ecologist, you might say.
