There Are No Mean People

"Sex-ed guidelines add homosexuality," reads the headline, which is about the latest debate in the DC school board, and documents similar moves in all the local school boards.
The guidelines say eighth-grade students should be taught the definition of sexual orientation "using correct terminology" and learn that some people "may begin to feel romantically and/or sexually attracted to people of a different gender and/or to people of the same gender."

They also say sixth-grade students should be taught that "people, regardless of biological sex, gender, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity and culture, have sexual feelings and the need for love, affection and physical intimacy."

But if affinity for others is innate, then lack of affinity for them must be as well. There's no vice or virtue in the way we interact with others, just behavioral determinism. Millions of Americans have to acknowledge "their truth" --they are Intolerant Americans, they've had these feelings since childhood, and they demand their innate tendencies be respected in culture and protected in law.

And P.S. on an entirely different topic, has anyone noticed the DC Board of Education now styles itself the DC State Board of Education? As of June 12 of this year? And the Schools Superintendent is now called the State Superintendent of Education? That's rather cart before horse isn't it --to say nothing of unconstitutional?
